About
History
The Berkshire Ajax Soccer Club was formed in the early 1990s by former Williams men’s soccer coach Mike Russo, and over the years has been instrumental in preparing soccer players to play at the high school and college level. Players from Massachusetts, New York and Vermont have benefitted from the high-level instruction offered by top coaches, and dozens have gone on to play in college.
Ajax is not a recreational soccer program. It is designed to be a step up from the town travel-team. Ajax exists to satisfy the training needs for capable and committed soccer players who have a passion for the game. While we do have fun at training, training sessions are focused and serious in order to allow for these students of the game of soccer to develop their skills.
League & Tournaments
We are a premier, Tri-State (MA, VT, NY) soccer club which plays in the Capital District Youth Soccer League.
Teams also participate in the Nordic Cup, a Mid-June tournament in Burlington, VT, as well as the Memorial Day Invitational in Guilderland, NY.
Commitment
Training sessions occur on Sunday mornings from January through mid-March. The season intensifies in mid-March when league play and tournaments commence, and runs through the end of June.
March through June will be 2-3 Commitments per week: we train 2-3 times and play 1 or 2 matches per week. All training sessions and home games take place at Williams College Farley-Lamb Field.
A PLAYER SHOULD MAKE 90% OF ALL AJAX PRACTICES AND GAMES once the season starts. Attendance at practice is critical to individual and team development. If you can't make 90% of the activities, we recommend that you discuss participation with one of the staff coaches. We have had a significant number of players successfully participate in Ajax as well a winter/spring sport or school extracurricular activity.
